Healthy College Meals – Easy, Budget-friendly, and Nutritious!

Eating healthy in college can be difficult, as college students typically don’t have a plethora of funds to buy healthy ingredients and don’t have hours to spend cooking these plentiful meals. I have found 5 healthy recipes that are not only budget-friendly but also quick, easy and so healthy for you! But, before I dive right into the food, let me give you some easy-to-follow tips and tricks on how to organize this healthy meal plan.

  1. Create a budget and meal plan. 

Setting a concrete budget is crucial for staying within the bounds of it, and not splurging on campus snacks every day, and having a clear meal plan with what ingredients to buy that week will help keep you on track. 

  1. Shop sale when you can, and bulk when it makes sense. 

Sometimes, it can be much more cost-effective to buy items in bulk, so look out for this. I personally love Costco and think the membership is definitely worth the price. And as for the sale, who doesn’t love a good sale?!

  1. Don’t be afraid to try new things. 

Get creative! Try that healthy food you always thought you would hate or you’ve always avoided a little bit (broccoli, I’m looking at you). There are so many ways to cook everything and nowadays all of the techniques are located on your very own smartphone or computer. This is the time in your life to try new things, so why not explore a bit in the cooking/food world?

Finally, the moment you have been waiting for – the food! It is important to fuel your body with food that will keep you feeling great all day, so here are some nutritious, quick, simple, and delicious options for every meal.
